Edie and her friends paid attention all weekend, trying to notice any small (or large) changes in the magic on campus, but they didn’t see anything. They didn’t hear anything from the magic professors, either, but Edie would have been surprised if they had—even if the warning helped the professors somehow, she didn’t think they would contact three freshmen about the control of magic on campus overall.

Unless they needed their help again, of course.

Chatoyant College Book 12: Chapter 21: Counselor

Edie felt a wave of panic that she immediately told herself was irrational. It was really unlikely that she was in trouble. Unless she’d done something… no, if she’d done something to make everyone laugh at her and the professor get upset with her, she would remember it.

Still, she felt quite nervous as she put her bag back on a chair and turned to the professor, waiting for the other students to leave. They seemed to file out quickly, though she was sure she heard laughter hanging in the air behind them.

Chatoyant College Book 12: Chapter 20: Springtime

Monday, April 17

It finally didn’t just look like spring outside—it felt like it, too. Edie was out early that morning, hoping to find Leila and get another chance to talk to her, but she was nowhere to be seen. However, being out early gave her a chance to drop her jacket off in her room between breakfast and magic class, which was good, because the sun was out and it was warm.

A student in magic class even asked if they could take the class outside, and Ginny said no for two reasons: one, she was pretty sure there was nowhere they could sit that wasn’t muddy, and two, they were doing review before the midterm, and she didn’t want anyone getting distracted.
